X Manual Dial-Up Configuration
Configuring your Macintosh to access the Internet will require
the input of ValleySurf information in several areas of your
Macintosh. This tutorial will painlessly walk you through
the process.
1.
Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.

From the System Preferences window, click the Network icon.

Select the port that your computer's modem is using from the
Configure pop-up menu. In most cases you will choose Internal
Modem as shown below.

Click on the TCP/IP tab and set the configuration exactly
as shown below.

Click on the PPP tab and enter your ValleySurf account information
as demonstrated below (note: the example below is only an
example, please enter your own username, password and dial-up
number information).
5a. Under Service Provider enter ValleySurf.
5b. Under Telephone Number and Alternate Number, enter ValleySurf
dial-up access numbers that are a local phone call from the
location you will be using to access the Internet. Use our
"Dial-Up Number Generator" to identify a ValleySurf access
number that is a local call from the location your computer
will be dialing from. There is no need to enter the area code.
5c. Under Account Name, enter your ValleySurf username. Under
Password, enter your ValleySurf password. Check the Save Password
box.

Click the PPP Options button and configure your settings as
shown in the example below. Then click the OK button.

Click the Modem tab and select the modem installed on your
computer from the Modem pop-up menu. (note: the first modem
indicated is usually the modem that is installed. If unsure,
consult your computeršs documentation). Check ON next to "Sound",
Check Tone next to "Dialing" and Check the box next to Wait
for dial tone before dialing. Click the Save button. Your
computer is now configured to access the Internet using the
ValleySurf network!
